The grass is in!

Some of the grass in in!

Facilities

We are planning on allowing the students to go on the small grass area next to the playground, and the kindergarten grass area, when we return from Thanksgiving Break.  I'm sure the students will enjoy the new grass.

We are planning on allowing the students on the big grass area, after we return from Christmas Break.

Principal's Page

Greetings Krystal Comets and their families:

I have decided to include a "Principal's Page" so that I can give you some of the most up-to-date information about what is happening at Krystal.  There are so many great things going on right now, so many neat things occurring.  I will break these into different areas on this page.  When there is new information about each section, I'll update those sections.  If there are other areas you'd like some information about, let me know, and I may make an entire section about that.

I have decided to put a calendar on the front page, so that you, as families, can know what is going on here at school.

BENCHMARKS

We have posted our Benchmark data, so that all can see it.  Our school did amazingly well!  On the math benchmark, we had 76% of our students score 80% or higher.  That means that about 7.5 out of every 10 kiddos got a B or above.  Wow!  On the language arts benchmark, 76% of our students scored 80% or higher.  That, too, is wonderful.  These were the highest scores in the District, again.  Way to go Comets and their parents!

We have our next benchmarks the week of December 7th.  Please make sure your children are ready for this by reviewing their work, and helping us make sure they understand the grade level standards.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE EXHIBIT

You are invited to participate in the Gingerbread House Exhibit.  All students, K-6, are asked to build a gingerbread house at home.  This optional activity is sure to spark your creative side, as the houses must reflect a book your child has read.  Students will use their baking skills, building skills, and architectural skills as they design this house.  There will be prizes for the following: Most Original, Best Representation of a Book, and Best Use of Edible Materials.  On December 10, you are invited to Krystal to display, and enjoy, all of the gingerbread houses that have been brought.  You may bring these beginning at 2:00 on 12/10.  A flyer is available on the home page of the website.

PTA

Our PTA is phenomenal!  We are in the process of planning the next fundraiser, so that we can make sure that all field trips are paid for.  The next meeting is this Thursday, November 19th, at 4:00.

Fall Family Fun Night

The 1st annual Fall Family Fun Night was a great evening.  We had so many kids and their families attend.  We hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

PUMPKIN LAUNCH

The 1st Annual Pumpkin Launch was a huge success!  Thank you to all who came out and supported our students.  We had a lot of fun watching the future engineers send their pumpkins and apples through the beautiful fall sky.  The 5th grade winner was Tristan M., and the 6th grade winner was Dana E.  Congratulations to all who participated!  We have included pictures of these outstanding builders on their own web page.  Check it out in the student information page.
